The EMDR Association East Anglia regional group is delighted to welcome Dr Mel Temple to our next networking day to explore best EMDR practice in working with dissociation, extreme as well as the relatively-manageable.
Dr Temple has been clinical director at The Retreat in York since 2015, specialising in the stabilisation and treatment in a residential setting of patients with personality disorder, complex trauma and DID (Dissociative Identity Disorder).
She is a consultant psychiatrist and psychotherapist, and EMDR consultant, leading specialist in-patient service for (The Kemp Unit). She has worked across secondary and tertiary NHS settings, with time spent also in the military mental health services.
Attendees at our Ely networking day will be introduced to:
- the basic principles of structural dissociation (cf Janina Fisher, Healing the Fragmented Selves of Trauma Survivors);
- key concepts in the stabilisation of dissociative clients essential for successful EMDR treatment;
- the role and impact of medication in the treatment of dissociation and its implications for EMDR treatment;
- and the wisdom and experience of The Retreat in York in its work with serious dissociation in a residential setting.
As is now customary at East Anglia regional networking events, attendees will also have the opportunity to pose and explore questions relating to EMDR best practice and latest research during small group networking after lunch (included in the price) and our traditional Consultants Forum to close off the day.
The meeting is open to both members and non-members of the EMDR Association UK & Ireland.
Click here to reserve your place – with the good news from our last similar event in Ely that there is plenty of space at the Ely’s Sugar Beet Factory Social Club, so we won’t be needing to restrict numbers attending.
